Arts for Peace is the most ambitious artistic and cultural training program in Colombia. Arts for Peace is a program of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge.

What does the “Arts for Peace” program consist of?

More than 500,000 children and young people across the country are painting, dancing, acting, and writing new stories of hope. Because where there was once silence, today dance, music, and the spoken word are flourishing. Arts for Peace is a program of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge. Under the Government of Change, we deliver with dignity.

Through its formal education component, Arts for Peace will reach 500,000 students between the ages of 6 and 17 in 2,616 public schools during the second half of the year. The four-year goal is to reach 1 million beneficiaries in 5,000 schools, consolidating arts education as a right, not a privilege.

Arts for Peace is the most ambitious cultural initiative of the Government of Colombia. It encompasses a broad cultural ecosystem that brings arts education to schools, training programs, community-based initiatives, correctional facilities, shelters for children, youth, and adults, and professional cultural organizations—ensuring that art and culture are a fundamental right for everyone, not a privilege reserved for a few.

This program is led by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge, in coordination with the Ministry of Education. Its central purpose is to transform lives through artistic and cultural education, strengthening the social fabric and providing pathways to dignified livelihoods, especially in historically excluded, vulnerable, or conflict-affected communities. Where there was once silence or exclusion, creativity, memory, and reconciliation now flourish.

Artes para la Paz is also the driving force behind SINEFAC (National System for Artistic and Cultural Education and Training for Coexistence and Peace), established by Law 2294 of 2023 and regulated through Decree 458 of 2024. This legal framework provides institutional backing and ensures its continuity as a public policy.

  • Strengthen the social fabric and provide opportunities for a dignified life.

  • Promote peaceful coexistence through artistic creation.

  • Enhance territorial knowledge, cultural diversity, and collective memory.

  • Ensure that art is present from school through professional life.

The program plans to engage 4,000 teaching artists and cultural knowledge bearers in 2025, with a commitment to reach 8,000 over the four-year period, thereby strengthening the career paths of cultural educators and recognizing tradition bearers as custodians of heritage and memory.

Within the component of artistic and cultural training in non-formal environments and settings, the program will benefit 100,000 participants.
